Russian scientists have developed new catalysts for the processing of renewable raw materials

Scientists from one of the Russian institutes have created catalysts based on high-silica zeolites that optimize the production of aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene and similar chemical compounds) from ethyl acetate. They are used, among other things, in the production of fuel components, plastics and dyes.

Effective catalysts reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Ethyl acetate can be obtained without the use of hydrocarbons - by oxidation of bioethanol or by its interaction with acetic acid and fermentation products of various types of plant raw materials.
