Russia becomes a "net" exporter of the most popular types of polyethylene

By the end of 2020 the production of basic types of polyethylene and polypropylene in Russia increased by almost 50%: from 3.165 million tons to 4.684 million tons. The reason for the growth is the increase in the production capacity of ZapSibNeftekhim, the petrochemical plant of the Sibur group of companies.

Thus, Russia will become a "net" exporter of the most popular types of polyethylene (linear low density polyethylene and low density polyethylene) used for the production of packaging, bags, plastic pipes, cables and plastic cups. According to the forecasts, Russia's share in the market of polyethylene will grow to 3.5% of the world's polyethylene production capacity.
