Production of primary plastics in Russia increased by 17% in ten months

According to the Federal State Statistic Service, the producrion of all types of plastics in primary forms in October 2020 is 857 thousand tons, which exceeds the same indicator of the previous year for the period under review by 22.5%.

282 thousand tons of polyethylene (PE) in primary forms were produced in October, which is 22.5% more than in 2019. In total, 2810 thousand tons of PE were produced in January-October, which is 55.1% higher compared to the same period in 2019. The high growth is due to “ZapSibNeftekhim” company (part of SIBUR Holding) that was into operation in Autumn 2019.

870.9 thousand tons of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) have been produced in ten months, which is 0.3% higher than in 2019.

The production of polycarbonate, polyesters, alkyd and epoxy resins in the reporting month amounted to 52.6 thousand tons. In total, 592.1 thousand tons of raw materials were produced in January-October, which is 5.7% more than in 2019.

483.5 thousand tons of polystyrene (PS) have been produced for ten months of 2020, which is 4.9% more the period under review last year.

The production of synthetic rubbers in October amounted to 143 thousand tons, which is 13.2% more compared to October 2019. In total, 1,166.9 thousand tons of rubbers were produced in January–October 2020, which is 0.9% more than in 2019.
