New polymer parts for shipyards will be developed in St. Petersburg

The share of polymers in shipbuilding is about 20% abroad, while in Russia it is only 0.6%. The Center for the Chemistry of Materials for Shipbuilding opening in St. Petersburg was one of the steps towards the development of affordable domestic polymers.

Samples from polymer composite materials will be developed and tested at the Center, after which they will be transferred to shipbuilding enterprises. This was reported in the news feed on the Nevsky News portal. Thus, it is planned to manufacture polymer parts by order of shipyards at the Institute of High Molecular Compounds of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
