“In 2018, it was possible to reduce heat losses by 3% compared with 2016 at Kazanorgsintez, PJSC,” the press service of the company said. A large-scale reconstruction and modernization of heat networks was carried out at Kazanorgsintez for the period from 2016 to 2018, and thermal insulation was replaced to minimize heat loss and to increase the efficiency of using thermal energy in production.

The implementation of the project in the enterprise was promoted by the use of thermal insulation products made of mineral wool based on melts of basalt rocks (stone wool) for insulation of steam and heat pipes and equipment. Obsolete equipment was also replaced, the steam supply scheme was optimized by decommissioning certain sections of the steam pipelines with a decrease in their overall length and number of drainages, the diameters of individual steam lines were reduced to match the actual steam consumption, efficient steam traps were installed in the Kazanorgsintez production site.

The company has also developed an action plan to reduce energy losses in the future until 2025.
